In the Catholic media, and among the Catholic leadership, we often encounter those in the Church who prefer to focus their energy on enforcing the “letter of the law." These people often deem others to be “bad” Catholics for not living in strict accordance with every teaching or Canon law. It’s nice to be reminded in today's readings that justice is our aim, not compliance, and that practicing what we preach is as important as preaching it.
