What a Relief!

The Monday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Today's Readings:

  • Isaiah 65:17-21
  • Psalm 30:2 and 4, 5-6, 11-12a and 13b
  • John 4:43-54

Today's Reflections:

“....for his anger lasts but a moment; a lifetime his good will.”

God, help me keep some perspective when I am overwrought with how I have hurt you. You are the parent who is angry at his child, but still has such love! Thank you for rescuing me from my own demons.

We're Only Human

The Fourth Sunday of Lent

Today's Readings:

  • 1 Samuel 16:1b, 6-7, 10-13a
  • Psalm 23:1-3a, 3b-4, 5, 6
  •  Ephesians 5:8-14
  • John 9:1-41
Today's Reflection

“Not as man sees does God see, because man sees the appearance, but the Lord looks into the heart.”

It's such a human thing to judge by appearances. God, help me to dig a little further, to see a bit more, to not be so judgmental, in my first dealings with others. Help me to remember that everyone is carrying some kind of cross in life. Open my heart to his or her heart.

Today's Reflection:

As God has shown you mercy and compassion, extend that gift to each person you meet today.  Let mercy and compassion grow this Lenten season.
