Today's Reflection
It’s natural for people to want to feel superior to others around them. But do we want to be like the Pharisees in today’s Gospel? They despise Jesus’ unsophisticated disciples, saying that they themselves have too much learning and too much class to follow this man. They are bigoted against those hicks, the Galileans. When the police say they couldn’t bring themselves to arrest Jesus because no one had ever spoken as he did, they figuratively put their fingers in their ears and yell “I’m not listening!”We can be pretty sure that God does not value closed-mindedness. When we encounter someone who spoke as none ever spoke before, let’s listen to him. For encouragement on the way, try this.
