March 12 - Does Going to Church Make Me a Christian?

Today's Reflection

There is a bumper sticker that reads, “If going to church makes me a Christian, does going to the garage make me a car?”

While this may seem flippant, the question it raises is similar to the one in today’s reading.  Is it enough to simply go to church and call ourselves Christians?  If our actions disobey God, or if we turn away from Him in our hearts, then going through the motions of worship is not enough.  Lent is a great time to examine our hearts and our actions and try to draw closer to God in all ways.
