Today's Reflection
In today’s Gospel, the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant, Jesus tells us that the difference between the forgiveness God offers us and the forgiveness we are expected to offer one another is like the difference between 10,000 talents and 100 denarii—a ratio of about 600,000 to 1. Once more, we hear echoes of “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”So to follow God’s law of love as Jesus taught it, do we need to do only one thing—forgive? Of course not; that’s too simple. We need to do two things: forgive (when things go against us) and be thankful (when they go well for us). I believe those two will just about do it.
